Has anyone ever done a dessert bar wedding. I have a consult scheduled in two weeks for a couple who doesnt want a cake, but a dessert bar instead. Any suggestions about what to serve, how much to charge, or any insight at all?
Thanks so much!

Hey, what a timely post for me...
I am doing a dessert buffet reception the end of March. (Ironically, they've already hired someone to do the cake!)
We are having: chocolate fondue/fountain with fruit, marshmallow, and pretzels
Miniature pie assortment
Key Lime and Lemon Bars
Banana Pudding Parfaits
Bonbon Assortment
and a Candy Bar...where the guests will fill their own containers of assorted candies (this is the wedding favor).

It's going to be so fun!

There are so many ways to do this...just be sure the assortment isn't all sweet, sweet, sweet, and not all chocolate. Fruit, citrus, chocolate, coconut, nuts, and even some spicy desserts...mixing and matching is half the fun of planning so many desserts. Be sure to offer a couple of sugar free options as well. There are some savory desserts to be found, too.

I've been seeing a few questions about this topic lately....is this new in other parts of the country? i mean that we've had this option since I can remember at every affair I've been to. They call it the "Viennese hour".

There are always sections that offer different things...
a cake section, an ice cream section, a chocolate fountain, a fruit section, a candy section....

It's everybody's favorite part...of course! icon_biggrin.gif
