I only used two cups....I may not have even used all two. It should feel like dough, but not too sticky. I think you can always add more if you didn't use enough...but you can't take it away.

What does it feel like?

Hi,

I cut this segment from the instructions from Nicholas Lodge's site...

Scrape the mixture out of the bowl onto a work surface that has been sprinkled with some of the reserved 1 cup of
powdered sugar. Place the shortening on your hands and knead the paste, adding enough of the reserved powdered sugar to form a soft but not sticky dough. You can check by pinching with your fingers and they should come away clean. Place the finished paste in a zip-top bag, then place the bagged paste in a second bag and seal well.

He says you should let it sit in the refrigerator in a ziplock bag for 24 hours for it to mature...like you were saying....
Here is a link: http://www.nicholaslodge.com/gumpaste.htm

Hope this helps!!

I know you are probably not making that recipe that is on the link, but if you read down through the instructions, it explains what to do.

Unfortunately, I have only made gumpaste once. I bought the different ingredients and mixed it all together like it says and then followed the remaining instructions from what I sent you. I haven't tried to use it yet. Hopefully, more experienced members will be able to advise you better. I just wanted to catch you before you added too much sugar. LOL icon_wink.gif

I hope I helped, at least a little....
Sorry I don't have that much experience with it....I know you must be frustrated.

Good Luck with it! I know you will do great and we will see a fantastic picture of Darth Vader!! icon_biggrin.gif And you will wonder why you did all the worrying. It happens to me that way ALL the time! he he

I hope you will not be impacted by RITA, I am not good with geography and don't know how far San Antonio is from where they say it is aiming...but BE CAREFUL!!! I pray that it would just break apart and not do ANY damage.

The stuff I got was from Michaels too. I didn't buy the premade mix, but I bought the separate stuff. You get more out of it that way, I think.

Could you IMAGINE if we had virtual CC???? OMG!!! I would never turn off my computer!!! EVERYONE would be watching all the time! LOL It would be fantastic! We would have cheerleading and instructing and everything!

I hope it all works out for you!!
