AHi, I'm making a Swiss roll ice cream cake for my friends birthday. It has about 3 ltr of ice cream inside as well as cut fresh strawberries. Now I'm wondering how long before serving should I remove the cake from the fridge and invert onto a plate? I don't want it to be difficult to be cut (through the frozen cake and strawberries) and of course I don't want the thing to melt either! The party is outside and it will be around 27'C (81'F). Thanks in advance!

depends on how solidly deeply frozen it is in the first place -- if i was serving an ice cream cake i'd take it out 10 minutes in advance and get someone strong and handy with a knife to cut it -- but depends on if it's still in the box and other factors -- 10 minutes is what i'd do

AIt'll be frozen about a week by then and it'll not be in a box, it's right now in a cling film lines bowl and I'll turn it upside down onto a plate, remove cling film and voila. The cake is a half ball shape, 11" wide and 5" tall. Cutting through frozen cake and strawberries isn't fun and also would like the cake to soften a little. A single slice of Swiss roll takes about 10 mins to defrost, but with all the ice cream underneath with acts like a freezer I don't think it'll be cutable/ edible in only 10 mins. Don't want everyone to stand around the cake waiting to thaw, lol! How big was your ice cream cake K8? And how warm was it? Tried to research online. But every recipe ends with "invert onto plate". Bit frustrating
