Question: I have a two tiered cake. Bottom is 8", with a 6" on top. Both covered in fondant.
I have a plastic "little pony" to put on the top as a cake topper, as per customers' request...it doesn't weigh that much...
I will secure it with royal icing.
Should I put dowel rods underneath it in the cake to support the topper?....or does anyone else have any ideas...I'm delivering the cake tomorrow morning ad wanted to put the topper on this evening, so the royal icing can dry.
Any suggestions/ideas are welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Uh . . . does the pony sit on a base on any kind? Or just the four little hooves touch the cake?
It may fall over . . .
ASometimes there are holes in the feet of those things. If that's the case, you can probably insert a toothpick halfway into the pony and the rest in the cake for added stability.
Thank you everyone for all the suggestions...cake is finished, and I used royal icing.....One happy client....
