What Is Your Favorite Cake You Have Ever Done?

If you had to pick just one, which cake would be your favorite? I am new to the cake decorating scene. I have always done it just for fun and relaxation therapy but over the last 5 months, I have been asked to do a number of cakes for people and have started charging for my work. I really love this, as it has been a dream of mine for many years.
Here is my favorite! This was my first "real" cake order that I took and it was for a wedding. It is a naked spice cake with cream cheese buttercream between the layers. It was dusted with powdered sugar and pecans. I am very proud of this cake! It was a beautiful fall wedding up on the side of a cliff, overlooking the river below.
This one because of the story behind it http://www.acaketoremember.com/images/robot_cake.jpg
This one because I like working with sugar http://www.acaketoremember.com/images/blown_glass_cake_rs_wm_1_.jpg
This one because I liked the dress it was based on http://www.acaketoremember.com/images/ruffle_dress_wedding_cake_rs_wm.jpg
And this one because nobody will ever order a black feather cake for a wedding but I like it http://www.acaketoremember.com/images/black_feather_cake_rs_wm_1_.jpg
ALove love love that robot cake [@]costumeczar[/@] - and especially the binary code around the base! Great design.
Gwensmommy - love the acorns!!
I'm a hobby baker and all the cakes I make for family are based on something that is specific for them, a favorite pastime, hobby or something (wacky) they are interested in. For me, thinking about something that has some significance to the person is a fun challenge. I am especially interested in the cake that looks like other food. This cake, a stack of pancakes, is my favorite for many reasons. It's mostly my favorite because I made it for my father for Father's Day, a month before he suddenly passed in 2012. He loved a pancake and always ordered it when whenever we all met at a diner. I always wanted to try the pancake-cake and mine is all buttercream. I was happy with the result and the fact that it 'fooled' some of the family is always an added bonus!

Wow!!! That is awesome! I really like your interest in making cakes that look like other food. I would be interested in seeing more if you have the time to upload them!
I too am a hobby baker. I LOVE it when my customer tells me to "create what I want, here are the guidelines." They put their trust into my creative ability and I love it!

Thank you!! You can look through my gallery for some other wacky creations of mine: spaghetti and meatballs, french fries, a whole barbecue set up, sandwiches, waffles and ice cream and the biggest 'fooler' of all, meatloaf cupcakes with mashed potato frosting. That one especially fooled one of my sisters who has no sense of smell so she didn't know what she was eating. Yea, she's still annoyed and brings it up years later!

I love making gumpaste flowers, I have a wedding coming up in March that I will be doing a similar design but with shades of purple and silver, I can't wait!
When I started looking through my photos I found that even though some of the cakes I have done are beautiful I didn't like the people so that coloured my opinion of the finished cake. I've picked a couple that weren't necessarily the best cakes I have made but the whole process, the customer, the venue etc all just came together and I remember them with happiness.
Ive just realised my top cake looks like it is tilted to the left, it wasn't it's my dodgey photography lol.

My favorite was a cake I made for my anniversary last year. DH brews beer and wine, and Allen House Winery is our "brand" of wine.

Wow! I love how the bottle and top look frosted even! How did you pull that off, awesome cake!
Thanks. I didn't steam the top or the bottle. I just brushed whatever powdered sugar was left on there after rolling out the gumpaste over the surface. The bottle has a little shimmer in the color so that helped too I think.
