I'm doing a tutorial a day December thing to amuse myself, and I'm pretty much out of ideas. I've been doing short ones that I can demo on short videos, but if anyone has ideas about something you'd like to see demo-ed either on youtube or on my blog please give me some suggestions! There are too many cake tutorials out there now and when I think of something I tell myself it's been done before or whatever, so I second-guess myself and don't do whatever it is. Any suggestions?
How To Boil Water (The Right Way) ... Or something similar. Make it a spoof. Not everyone can pull it off, but you've got that great sense of humor and you're clever! Love to see what you do!!

Hahahaha! At one point I was thinking of doing one called "how to crack an egg" but that was only because I have a friend who seriously can't crack an egg without getting it all over herself and the counter. Here's one that my son did when he was in 6th or 7th grade. The funny thing is that people have edited it, added photos, etc. He said his favorite line in it is "savor the flavor." http://www.wikihow.com/Drink-from-a-Juice-Box
Well you know that I love tutorials and yeah there are lots of them out there but that is what's so unique about them. Even though they might be about the same things, the different personalities and techniques make them enjoyable to watch. I say just be yourself and let it rip but must of all have fun with it!
I would love to see a good wedding cake stacking tutorial or even one that shows how to do cake layers with tips on how to avoid bulges in your icing, the possibilities are endless. With your expertise and tricks of the trade I'm sure you will be fine. I have watched a few of your other tutorials, looking forward to see what you come up with.
Good Luck!
Just for you all, I'll do how to boil water. But I'd be willing to bet that there will be people who really take it as a serious thing.
And boom, it's already been done too! Hahahaha! there are a few on youtube already so I guess I can add one more.
Okay, you weirdos, here it is. I expect all of you to post questions to improve on your water boiling skills.
AOmg! Lol! So I watched your video just to get a giggle and all 3 of my children crowded around me to watch it. They literally sat there for 8 minutes and intently watched a pot boil haha. My youngest asked where the hot dogs were! My oldest said mom do people really put their hands on the burner? Oh that was great in so many ways.
@costumeczar I'm so happy that you included the very important info cautioning ref- burners. You may have saved a life.

How many deaths have occurred when people touched a burner to see if it was hot? If one life can be saved then I want to do my part.

Well, if kids are watching it, it must be educational! And yes, @mimifix, I provide gardening advice too. My next video will be about composting egg shells. (Not really)

Sorry for posting, I thought you were serious I didn't see Mimi's post before I replied.
AAwesome video! I loved all your instructions/warnings about the different kinds of stoves. And the warnings about smelling gas. Who knows, you maybe saved someone's life with that one! On a more serious note, I second the request for a good wedding cake stacking demo.

I was serious, it's @MimiFix that suggested a parody video! But that actually turned out pretty well because it's humorous yet educational. I'm going to do a bunch of "how to pipe buttercream flowers" ones this week.

I have to do a wedding cake this weekend, so I'll try to do that. It's hard to get a good camera angle in my tiny kitchen because I use my ipad to make the videos and there's no good place to put it so that you can see the entire counter. I'll have to rig something up.

I will look forward to it! I have an ipad too, so I understand how awkward the camera can be. Oooooo I thought of another one that can be awesome/ fun/ funny. HOW TO PRICE YOUR CAKES. lol. Then, every time someone asks that on here everyone can link your video.
I introduced myself awhile ago on here, mostly lurk but have been away for awhile, namely because I got tired of the "how much to charge for this" posts. And I am a newbie to the business of cake decorating too. But I got cakeboss and learned what my cakes really COST ME to make. And I am learning through trial and error that I really just need richer friends. Lol.
I'm looking forward to the buttercream flowers, I always have a hard time doing those and end up making them out of fondant which is mad bc they take so much longer.

Lololol, very enlightening, I get it now, forgive me for reading the posts incorrectly. Would you believe that I was actually hypnotized by watching water boiling over the holidays. I was sick with a bad chest cold and made some spice tea, I watched the water boiling process from beginning to end and was lost in the percussion of dancing bubbles. Fevers do weird things to people, lol.
Feeling better now, just got around to finishing Christmas cookies for family. I'm looking forward to future videos from you
