I have never used vanilla beans before, and I was wondering what they should smell like. I got some and I opened the package and it didn't smell anything like vanilla. Then I made stuff with it and it tasted so gross. It didn't taste like vanilla at all. Should I throw them away?

AIf you got fresh vanilla pots, they feel a bit sticky and are very flexible. You slice them open lengthwise and scrape the actual beans out with a knife. I keep the empty pots and stick them in a jar with my sugar or boil them in milk for pudding
