Happy Holidays!!

I'd really appreciate if anyone can please guide me on how to achieve the space between each tier in this picture? I was looking up stacking cakes on Wilton, and saw they have the 2 plate system, but which size of pillars do I get, and how do we set them up?

If I do the push in plate system, then which size/length of pillars will I need?

Or can I use the plastic dowels (Wilton poly dowels) and place the cakes on top?

The cake tiers will be square - 6" square, 8" square & 10" square

The 2 plate system shows quite a large gap between the tiers, but this picture doesn't show much gap, right?  Would really really appreciate any help!! Thank you!!

Check out

How to use The Bakery Crafts SPS Tier System by Chef Alan Tetreault of Global Sugar Art He does it for both 4 inch tiered cakes and for cakes that need spacing between the tiers.

Thanks savannahquinn! I do use the SPS, but only have the round plates. No time to order the square plates as the order was last minute!

Any idea on what size of pillars and system to be used from the Wilton line? That would be my only option now!

Hi,

I would use the white "push in pillars" by Wilton.

They come in a set of 4, sizes 5, 7 and 9 inch.  Think of a table with 4 legs that push in to the cake below.  You will need 2 sets of 7 inch.

Your cake is approx. 4 inches tall and you will have a 3 inch space between the top cake to add the greenery.

You can put the 6/8/10 cake tiers on a square drum or board. You could probably get by with out the plates, just use the boards.  Or just use your SPS pillars the same way.  I hope this helps.

Omg..thank you so much CindiM!!!! This is exactly the guidance I was looking for... really really appreciate it!!! Thank you!!!

I wasn't sure about the sizes they come in, so the 7 inch will work great. Hopefully I find them locally, or maybe I might use the white poly dowels in the 7 inch size, if I don't find the push in pillars. Yes, I might be able to just place the square cake boards on the pillars.

Thanks again! Happy Holidays!!

AYou can use round SPS plates under a square cake. The cardboard will be square, of course. I've done it many times.
