AHi everyone! My day got crazy so I'm a bit later and posting from my phone! Our son passed his Red Tip test on Wednesday so now we have a houseful for the Black Belt test in the morning. Needless to say it's been a very stressful week! But I managed to surprise my son with a cake! I will post a photo tomorrow after everyone has headed home again around noon. The testing is at 8 am! Hope everyone had a great week and I look forward to catching up with you tomorrow!

Hi Cat, hope all goes well with your son's test tomorrow! Fingers crossed
Hi everyone!
Ok, it's been a crazy ride but it's done! Our son earned his Black Belt today! Here is the cake!
Love your cake @julia1812 We are Stones fans so we think it's very cool!
@cara1982 That Garage is simply amazing! Incredible work!
I will check back over the next few days but if I don't see you guys before next Friday have a great week!
Cat
ACongratulations to Jack on his black belt and your cake is perfect.
@julia1812 love the cake. The Rolling Stone logo was perfect. @cara1982 the garage cake what a cute idea for a future mechanic. The cupcake bouquet is beautiful.
I only baked sugar cookies for a work party.
Happy baking
Congratulations Jack on the Black Belt!
I love everyone's cakes!!
So exhausted and glad this weekend's over.. I even locked my keys (and my phone!) in the car during a delivery and had to wait nearly 90 minutes!! (thankfully all three cakes were already set up and the next delivery wasn't until 6 hours later). Figures it happened before I had a chance to renew my AAA membership so the delivery fee didn't even cover the tow company's cost to unlock the door.
On the plus side, me sitting there waiting caused networking with the florist/event venue/guests coming up to ask me about the cakes.
Here are the goodies I worked on this weekend....
Black and White Wedding Cake Trio:
Handpainted cheetah print with zebra stripe marble cake inside
Xbox & Oregon State Cupcakes
Plus here's the cake/dessert bar I did for my daughter's birthday last Sunday which I didn't get to share. I'm pretty proud of it since I made/baked everything myself from scratch (except the Trader Joe's meringues and the Snyder's pretzel rods =P ) and was still able to get 3 hours of sleep.
Now off to bake sugar cookies for older daughter's class party... it never ends.. LOL
Aileen I love everything you did, but especially the black and white wedding cakes. Those are totally gorgeous! Autumnwind, your cake is beautiful, too. Actually, in looking at all the cakes posted thus far, can't find any fault with any of them. They are all beautifully done. Great job everyone, and congrats to Jack on the black belt!
ANo cakes for me, just some cupcakes with sprinkles! Easy peasy! Hehehe
Cat, congrats on your son's accomplishment! How awesome is that?!
Omgoodness! Where do i start? The cakes are all so beautiful!!!! Great job everyone :) and that Frozen dessert table is divine! Simple beautiful! I love looking at everyones creations :)
AAileen, either the moms in your daughter's class hate you, or they are all your customers, LOL! Wish kid (even adult!) wouldn't say I want that too for my birthday!!! Awesome, all of your cakes. And you made it sound so easy...
Congrats Cat on the black belt! Aileen you do superior work! Was all of that for one weekend? That would have killed me, seriously.
AThanks everyone! I'm still trying to hone skills and I've honestly learned so much from the people here on CC since I joined years ago.
[@]Pastrybaglady[/@] No, it wasn't all this past weekend (you're right, that would have probably killed me as well!!). The wedding cakes, safari cake, and cupcakes were for last Saturday. The Frozen dessert table was for the Sunday before.
[@]julia18[/@] It was most definitely not easy. The Frozen birthday was for my daughter's 3rd birthday so no classmates yet. It was just a family party - but we have a huge family with lots of kids.
I tend to go a little overboard for my kids birthdays when it comes to decorating/baking - I just can't help myself. We can't afford to give them expensive things/toys/clothes, so I try to give them a kick a** birthday using my skills/time without spending a lot. (Plus it helps build up the portfolio as well!)
