I'm making a "50 licks" cake soon and using the rolling stones "logo" as deco, made from red fondant. You know the red lips with the tongue out...

I color my red fondant with melted candy melts so I do not have to use so much gel color.

What brands/ type of candy do you use? Not sure if I can find anything suitable here

Just put white fondant behind it.

I figured out that there is a wilton retailer in the capital, but haven't tried yet and since the cake is due on thursday, I don't want to take a risk trying new stuff. But will experiment with candy melts for sure in the future. Any import items are normally twice as expensive plus the shipping costs, which is a bit of a bummer :(

Anyway, have a left over birthday cake from my son's party in the fridge and figured that my fondant becomes completely dry in the fridge, NOT stick at all. And even the gum paste survived the test of being exposed without any covering and taken out again. Now a tiny test gum paste flower sits dry and still still on my counter :))) AMAZING, am thrilled...

As for the "bleeding", think a protective layer of white fondant is a good idea! Thanks for that.
