How Much Frosting For Different Sized Cakes?
Decorating By montanakate Updated 22 Sep 2005 , 3:20pm by Kos
Does anyone out there know if there is a table or guideline for howmany cups of frosting you need for different sized cakes? Currently I am getting ready for a stacked wedding cake that has 8, 10, 12, and 14 inch layers and I need to know if I'm making enough.
Thanks for any information.
Kate
Kate, do you have any Wilton books? The amounts on in any book. Just look through you'll find it. IF you don't have any let me know & I'll PM you with that info ok~
This is what Wilton suggests, although I tend to use more;
Wedding Cakes two layer, 2" deep each
8" round 4 c.
10" round 5 c.
12" round 6 c.
14" round 7-1/2 c.
HTH!
Thanks for the help guys, I was in a mixing blur the other night that I didn't even think to look in my Wilton books. Yes, I am blonde
So far I have made up 9 batches of BC, and I think that is about 36 cups or so. I also have to do a stacked groom's cake and a birthday cake the day before so I'll probably be covered (I hope)
Thanks again,
Kate
The charts are also on the Wilton site, under Cake Preparation, Recommended Batter Amounts, Servings etc. I find these really accurate.
