Hi Cake bakers,

I am very new to London and not too familiar about how much is too much to charge for cakes!!

Can you please let me know how much you would charge for this cake? This cake is to feed 25 people.

FYI - the doll was provided by the customer.

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Pricing is a question that gets asked alot as many people do find it difficult.   It will vary for person to person as in any other industry.

A guide to help you cost your cake is to add all these components together:

1)  Cost of all the materials used (ingredients, boards, ribbon etc)

2) Cost of all other items such as electricity, phone calls, water, fuel for car to get supplies, advertising etc (you could just use a nominal amount that would include everything here)

3) Your hourly rate (you need to assess your skill level and give yourself an hourly rate)

Some people find it easier to just add all the components listed in point 1 above and then multiply that total by 3 giving them the final cost of the cake.

There are many other options to help pricing a cake such a the CakeUlator App:  http://www.cakebaker.co.uk/apps-for-bakers/the-cakeulator-iphone-app/

Wishing you all the best!

sure because an 8" cake typically feeds 24 so that's probably an 8" or 9" two layer cake -- so 24 to 32 servings -- and we used another cake to make the waist so yes more than 25 easy

It doesn't look like an 8" to me, more like 6", maybe it's the angle of the photo?

Ayes you're right it could be a 6" or 7" it does look more diminutive because it's on a big board -- but then it'd be 7 to 8 inches tall and you'd have close to your traditional servings maybe 20 - but i could cut 25 servings out of that
