Hi everyone!

Sorry for being so MIA last week. I was SO sick I basically slept about 40 out of the 48 hours. But this week has been good. I only have one cake this week. I've done the cake for a clients hubby for the past 4 years. He's a 49ers fan, thus the cake.

It's a coconut cream cake with hazelnut cream filling. Everything is edible.

That cake is awesome!

I just finished a Minecraft cake for my friend's son.  It would have been so easy if I had done it in fondant, but she didn't want fondant so I had to do each little square on the cake individually.  It's not a neat as I would have liked.

I will post a picture soon!

Wow...Nora's Mom...you piped a Minecraft cake?!?! The fondant version is hard enough! Can't wait to see the photos!

I didn't pipe it, I froze a layer of buttercream, cut the squares with a square cutter and put them on the cake.  I should have tried piping it…would have been easier.  Turned out to be one of those "I thought it would be easier/less time consuming" cakes…

But hubby is still at work so it was keeping me busy tonight.

Great cake, Cat! Awesome details! Glad you're feeling better.

I was pretty happy with this cake even before Mom  & Grandma dressed it up with the TV camera ready display! All buttercream except for snowflakes, and fondant #4 topper.

Blue raspberry cake, buttercream iced with fondant snowflakes & topper. Elsa toy figurine.

AHmm. The football cake is very impressive, but it seems like entirely too much fuss over a lousy 25 cents (you know, they start with a coin toss, then spend the rest of the game trying to GET THE QUARTER BACK).

Well, 239 shortbreads and four 9x13 gingerbreads, all of them ready for the memorial service tomorrow.

NorasMom...you FROZE buttercream and then applied it?!? Oh wow...really can't wait to see this cake now!

Autumnwind...LOVE your Frozen cake! Love how they dressed up the table for you too!LOL! Gorgeous job on that buttercream!

James, your cake is amaaazing!

And autumnwind, I love “Frozen”, so do my boys. Might do a version of your cake in December for my son’s birthday ;)

I’m much better this week and busy in the kitchen (am actually refusing for take more orders now (only 2 left) since I’m stocking up for my other home project to go to Christmas craft fairs…

After last week’s disaster, everything went well, I was organized and prepped as much as possible.

Surfer cake<p><br><div class=

" src="http://www.cakecentral.com/content/type/61/id/3292504/width/350/height/700" class="img-responsive">

"Twinkle" the bunny

Even covered one of my fondant cakes yesterday evening to finish it today. This morning I woke up (kids, 2 and 4, up and playing already) and find THIS:

And this is actually AFTER I've stuck it back. It was literally ripped on top and then torn down...

I had covered the cake overnight and the cover was still on when I found it, so not sure if my boys would be so clever to put it back…?

Am really devastated because I’m not sure what went wrong!!! The cake was covered in ABC first and then MMF. All looked fine last night. Pleeease, any advise/clues anyone? Could it be the fondant???

Luckily I was able to cover it up (it's hidden under the tiger pattern) and deliver the cake before lunch time. But what a scare!

This is the cake (sorry, picture is not very clear):

I've been sick so not very active on the boards these days but hopefully I'll stay healthy for a bit to keep my orders going. Nice to see all the lovely cakes!

James, your cake is amaaazing!

Is there another James here? I know I haven't baked or decorated a cake since the one for Gary's retirement party, two weeks ago, and I've never done one that could be described as "amaaazing." All I did all week was cookies and gingerbread.

Here is the Minecraft cake.  Cutting squares out of buttercream is no easy task.  Looking at it now I see I could have made the lines neater, but they loved it.  I wish I could have used fondant but his mother hates fondant.  I think she's only tasted Wilton…

James, I think she may have thought the 49ers cake was yours. I'm still giggling from your joke about the quarter...LOL.

NorasMom...oh my goodness...love the Creeper. Can NOT imagine how much time that took to do.

Julia...love the cakes! First of all I'm wondering if you could have had a "bubble" and it popped leaving the tear behind? Glad you were able to hide it in the end.

I'm a beach baby so I adore your surfboard cake! Your McQueen is stunning! I hate making car cakes...I just suck at them!

Reen! Wow! Love the Frozen cake with the ice shards! I love working with poured sugar and you did such a wonderful job of keeping it clear!

Saturday mornings is spent at karate for me. My 13 year old is training for his black belt so we "get" to spend 2 hours each Saturday morning at the dojo while he trains in a special class till Dec. UGH. Too early and not enough coffee in the world.

Then we are off to deliver the cake and my first birthday celebrations! My birthday isn't until next weekend but this is the "family" weekend with my kids. Because we are a bit spread out, birthdays are  much more than just one day in our family. Adds to the fun!

Have a great weekend everyone!

ALove all the cakes.

Norasmom I am still trying to figure out how you froze a sheet of buttercream and cut out those squares. You must have a lot patience. I don't think I could of did that good with fondant.

James you will be in my thoughts today. That is a lot of shortbread and gingerbread. I bet if you ever decide to do anything other than a family style cake it will be amazing.

Working on a cake for another shower for my future daughter-in-law. Will post pictures layer. Spent hours trying to get the buttercream smooth before giving up.

AReenrules, I like your frozen themed cake! Did you use ice cream cones for the castle roofs? An is the ice made from sugar glass or what did you use? Have researched some recipes for edible glass, but haven't had time to try them. Would you share yours? Or give some tips please?

Thank you! I used 2 cones attached together just cut the top off the bottom one attached with icing and covered with fondant. The glass shards are a hard candy recipe. It's 1 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup water 3/4 cup light corn syrup boiled to 300F ( hard candy stage on a candy thermometer) add gel color and pour out on parchment to cool. Easy peasy!

AWell, the turnout for the memorial service was not bad, although it was lower than even my most pessimistic estimates. Not only did we not run out of anything; we didn't even use up the first 9x13 gingerbread, until I portioned it out for the relatives. Two of the four are now in the freezer. And the remains of the catering trays were left for the church.

All in all, the service went well. I didn't break down delivering my eulogy; the Pastor more than lived up to what I'd hoped for, having known her (and her husband, who's also a UMC pastor) for 18 years.

Beautiful cakes as always everyone!  I especially love the Noah cake, kids cakes are by far the funnest!  Here's my contribution.  A hotdog cake for my friend celebrating her late husband's birthday.  Hotdogs were his favorite food.
