http://revenuestateco.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/revenuestateco.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?Question
How do I get a Tax Identification number, sales tax license or wage withholding account?
Answer
To obtain a Colorado Tax I.D. number, sales tax account and/or a Colorado wage withholding account, complete the "Colorado Business Registration" form (CR 0100).

For Further Information:
CR 0100

Effective May 30, 2006, the Colorado Secretary of State Business Center handles trade name registration and renewal. Sales and wage withholding tax accounts will continue to be set up with the "Colorado Business Registration" (CR 0100). The CR 0100 must be used to open the tax accounts. Additionally, the "Special Event License Application" (DR 0589) will continue to be used to obtain a special event sales tax license. Neither form has the trade name registration fee on it anymore.
Proceed to the CR 0100

Colorado Sales Tax License

Question
What is the fee for a Colorado sales tax license? How long will it take for me to receive the new license?

Answer
The fee for a standard Colorado sales tax license is $16. Wholesale licenses and a "multiple event" licenses also cost $16 each. Charitable organizations have a license fee of $8.

These licenses are effective for a two-year period as follows:

Jan. 1, 2006 - Dec. 31, 2007;
Jan. 1, 2008 - Dec. 31, 2009;
Jan. 1, 2010 - Dec. 31, 2011; etc,

Renewal applications received by the end of October will be issued in mid-November. Applications received in November or December will be issued the month after we receive them.

The cost of a new license purchased after the start of any of the periods above is prorated in six-month increments as follows:

Date Purchased ------------------ Fee
Jan. 1, 2006 - June 30, 2006 = $16
July 1, 2006 - Dec. 31, 2006 = $12
Jan. 1, 2007 - June 30, 2007 = $8
July 1, 2007 - Dec. 31, 2007 = $4

A single event license costs $8 per event.

To apply for any of these sales tax licenses, use the "Colorado Business Registration" (CR 0100). This form is available on our Business Registration Forms site.
