ADo you put the cake directly on the cardboard? That seems unsanitary. Do you cover the cardboard? If so, with what? Foil?

Thanks! Assembling my daughter's birthday cake for this afternoon!

ADon't use just any kind of boards, look for grease proof cake boards. Use specifically for cakes, you don't need to cover in anything.

AThat's what I've done in the past with a package from wilton but the ones I got yesterday were just sitting out on a shelf at the party supply store. Ugh.
