I'm planning on making this and wonder what will be the best way to make the paint splatters?? I thought about putting royal inside empty bottles and just squirting the surface???? Does anyone have any suggestions or does that sound like how it should be done?

This was done by using thinned out gel color (you could use air brush color). I dipped a 3/4 in brush in color and with a quick flip of the wrist let it fly  :)  Used Vodka to thin color, work outside if possible, you may want to let color dry a little before adding next color.  The thickness of the color changes the final look. Get a piece of black poster board and try it, if your back ground is  black you will need very bright colors.  If this does not help to know what to do it may help know what not to do :) Good Luck !

I like your idea of royal and squirting from bottles.  The gel looks pretty and vibrant but to get the texture and color on black you would have to use royal.
