AI've just finished applying watercolor fondant panels to a fondant cake. To apply small bits of gold leaf can I use everclear or vodka? I don't really want to get the finally dry painted parts too wet again! Thanks!
ASo you want to add little bits of gold inbetween the hand painted parts is that right? to be super precise you could paint on a little confectionners glaze and wait for it to go tacky?
AI've added gold to a traditional Christmas cake. Actually to the leafs on top which were marzipan. Didn't need anything, they stuck to it so well! Guess it's the same with fondant...
It will stick to anything...if it doesn't you can get the surface of the fondant slightly damp and it will, but I've used gold leaf and attached it to dry wafer paper before and it grabs right on.
Thanks everyone! What I didn't know is that it WANTS to stick and will stick everywhere but where I was trying to place it. Arrgghh. I did stick it with everclear in the end. I wanted random touches of gold, and that is exactly what I got!!
