I'm making cupcakes for two different groups at a school in October. Late in October is teacher's day, so I'm making cupcakes with 'school' type toppers - the usual stuff - apples, blackboards, ruler, books etc.

Earlier in October is "School officers' day" which seems to be for everyone else who works at the school, and I'm making cupcakes for those people. So this encompasses everyone from teacher aides, to office staff, to the grounds staff, to IT people - everyone who works in the school who isn't a teacher, and both men and women.

I don't want to do 'school' themed, because the teachers will be getting those later in the month, but I'm having trouble coming up with a non-gender-specific design that covers all those different kinds of people that is equivalent to the type of topper that the teachers will get.

Any ideas?

some with pretty colorful flowers and some with 3-d chocolate scrolls -- pipe and dry them then stand them up on the cupcake -- or you could use royal icing --

AKnow you said you did not want to do school themed, but I remember seeing some white discs lined with red and blue to look like loose leaf lined paper, a few scrabble tiles, and black edible marker writing. That's school related, but in a different way than what you chose for the teachers themselves?

Maybe you could just decorate them with the school colors and for the toppers you could do royal icing transfer patterns with a picture of the mascot or just write out "Thank You"?

my first thought would be puzzle pieces - as in each piece (each job) is important to the whole.  but not sure how you would convey that message.

Thanks for the ideas! Annoyingly, the school colours are red and black - the most annoying colours to work with! I thought of just doing stars or something in those colours, but I didn't know if the 'school officers' would feel a bit ripped off by just getting stars when the teachers would be getting cute little modelled objects.

Would that make you feel ripped off?
