Baptism & Wedding Cake Combination
Decorating By Sweet_Toof Updated 4 Oct 2014 , 6:36am by Sweet_Toof
AI have kept our top tier from the wedding cake as it was fruit cake and preserved. We said we'll let our first child help cut it. So 2 years on, we have our sons baptism day in a few weeks and I need some suggestions. Attached is a pic of the wedding cake And also attached is a pic of the cake I'd like to combine it with. I'm wondering does anyone have any ideas to help blend the tiers together Or should I re-cover the top tier? Yes, I would take the original fondant off as best as you can and recover. The lace accents on your wedding cake would be quite hard to "fit" into the baptism cake since they are a bit feminine looking IMO.
AI agree but it's sentimental so I was a bit reluctant What about if I rotated it so more of just the leaves showed at the front? Then how could I incorporate it?
i think i would put the diamond-y shapes on the solid white part of the cake and cut the edges of the diamonds to form around the placement of the flowers and leaves -- bordering the white background like the diamond shapes do --up to that eighth of an inch --same distance that is between the shapes -- i would paint the same color blue into all or enough of the leaves and flowers to make it work --
but it doesn't have to be painted from sea to shining sea -- just even some well placed brushed strokes would do it to bring it all into one focus even though it's such a sweet blend -- and leave the outside edges of leaves & flowers white-
maybe?
and the vein in the middle of the leaf is white and just the insides of the flower petals blue not the defining edges -- those stay white --
the blue diamond shapes are like tiles with white 'grout" then you use the flower and leaf shapes as more blue tile outlined in white
I'd make the initial up ahead of time and let it dry, then put it right on the lace flowers to hide them a bit..leaves stay as is...cover bottom tier in blue with white pattern on top to bring in more blue.
AThanks guys there's a few ideas there I need to have a play around and stare at the cake n find what may work best I was inclined to cover the wedding cake but I feel like that's not the right choice because its sentimental to us It's also the day before our 2nd anniversary so it would be nice to have it on show Just a shame I have a baby boy not girl otherwise it'd be easier!!
