AI'm wanting to make a 3d Saturn cake with my 6in wilton ball pan. What I'm wondering is if I can cover the top and bottom of a 8in cake round with mmf for the rings. Will the mmf stick to the bottom of the cardboard? Should I buy tylose powder to mix into my mmf to make a disk and just skip the cake round? If I use a hard disk of mmf will my abc soften it and make it wilt?

I would consider using a much bigger board for the "rings". If your ball is 6", I would go for a 14" board. An 8" board will only give you 1" all around the sphere. If you look at Google images of Saturn you can measure one up, the rings are very big.

I would definitely be using a board, yes. And especially if you do the bigger size rings. You can cover it ahead of time - maybe do the bottom first, leave to dry for a day or more, then turn over and do the top/edge.

Good luck!
