I need to make a cake for an 18 year old boy.  They want a pic of him when he was a toddler and also want his pic when he is the age of 18 now. I am at a loss of how to incorporate this into a cake.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are several possibilities. You could do side by side edible images, stand up fondant frames, one flat on the cake and the other placed on fondant and cut out to stand on the top of the cake, a two tier with each layer dedicated to a picture with the interests of the kid at the time, or an image montage on each layer just as a few suggestions

How about a "This is your Life" book. Have the pages open and a photo on each page

You could also have a funny caption or family nichname that goes with each picture

I also like the film reel cake look and you can add a few images.

AI too, like the idea of pics on a cake. I just put my first edible pic on a cake. It was for the bubble guppies. I don't know if everybody does it this way or not, but I rolled a thin piece of fondant. Put my whole picture of these guppies on it, then, proceeded to use my pizza cutter to cut them out in shapes of bubbles. It was so easy to do it this way, for me anyway. So if you decide to use pictures, this way was easy for me. My local Baskin Robbins ice cream store did the photos on rice paper for me. Hope this helps. Penny

I did a 'this is your life' cake for a lady turning 40 who's religion did not celebrate b'days.  This was like 25-30 yrs ago before edible images/printable sheets were around.  Mother gave me many pix of her thru the yrs.  I wrapped them in plastic wrap, glued a toothpick to the back and stood them up along a 3 ft long cake :)  Yes, the cake  was 3 ft (long) x 4"(high) x4"(wide).   It was a huge hit :)  I think there is a pic of it in my gallery.
