Has anyone sold their cookies at a festival or fair? I am considering doing this but have no idea how much product to make. The average attendance at the fair I am looking at is around 1000 people. I would be selling decorated sugar cookies, cupcakes and also traditional cookies like choc chip, oatmeal, etc. How many people can I expect will BUY/PURCHASE cookies?

Will there be anyone else there selling a similar product, or other sweet food/desserts?

I am not sure if there will be anyone else there selling sweets but it is mainly a jewelry and craft fair. The organizer seems really excited that I was bringing something different to the fair.

Food vendors attend all kinds of fairs and festivals and are usually part of a food court. The organizer might only be thinking about your table as part of the craft vendors. You need to find out what foods will be sold.

From my experience with a food truck selling only desserts and having worked a lot of events, festivals, etc.  10% of the attendees will buy dessert.

I haven't been able to find out what other food vendors will be attending and/or what other dessert booths might be there.

I think the 10% rule......thanks!

You get to sell more when there are lots of children present at the festival/fair. With children, they are attracted to colorful treats, hence, they want their parents to buy cookies, cupcakes, etc. for them. You need to take into account how many booths will be selling food. I think the 10% rule is right. That's usually the guaranteed percentage of people buying your treats, based on my experience too.

There will be approx. 130 vendors. Since it is predominately Jewelry show, I do not think there will be very many food vendors. I have been going to various fairs, farmer's markets, etc. and only see people selling cupcakes. I have not seen anyone selling decorated cookies so hopefully that will work in my favor.
