I am doing a 4 tier cake. 8,10,12,14, 4" each tier. I have done lots of 4 tiered cakes stacked using sps. This one will have bottom tier sitting on 16 Styrofoam cake drum with silk flowers around it for the base, then the 14" , then silk flowers, 12" then silk flowers, etc. I have been assured that putting the sps with the 8" legs through the cake leaving 4" for the silk flowers then continue the same way for all tiers. I am worried the cakes will be too heavy and this system will not support the cakes. My biggest fear is that the cake plates will bow or give out completely. I will try to attach picture of a cake similar to the one I am doing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you're gonna be fine -- perfect soundly planned cake -- assemble on site of course -- you might want to have a barrier between the flowers and the cake icing if you haven't already planned for that -- a piece of parchment or something like that -- a paper doily would be cool if your icing crusts --

you also might want to be assured that the cake table and the flooring is sound -- we had one venue with a beautiful 360 degree area for the cake -- kind of a wide spot in the traffic flow and the floor shook when anyone walked by  -- more fun than one person can handle -- heheheheheh

it will be nearly 4 feet tall so using sps is brilliant and so secure -- also if it's going on one of those massive round banquet tables it will be difficult to reach the top -- maybe stick a step stool in the car for good measure -- make sure they have the cake table ready for you -- i always said needs to be the first table covered and should be ready 2 hours in advance -- so check with the person in charge of the reception for some assuring table talk--

you're great -- it's just quite tall -- no worries -- you got this

and i love the balance in that picture with the glorious beautiful window -- very cool -- like when the cake is displayed in front of a mirror and the clever photographer (aka not moi ;) gets the cake and the enchanting reflection of the same in the frame -- anyhow -- very pretty

The SPS will be fine. Have you tried bending one of those columns? It's impossible.

Just make sure you insert the plates/columns in straight :)

Thank you all for your kind words. I did set it up onsite today, everything went according to my plan:smile:. The decorator was awesome and made sure the cake table was set up ready for me and placed where no one would bump it when finishing table décor etc. It ended up to be 3 feet tall, all tiers were level and I am breathing a sigh of relief.  I should not have doubted the sps!
