AHi to all hope everyone is well. I'm needing a little help with an m&m cake the little m&m characters that people put on top of there cakes what are they made out of? I'm thinking if it all fondant it would be quiet heavy to put on top of a cake are they done with Rice Krispie treats? If that's the case please can someone give me there measurements they use cause when ever I've tried to make Rice Krispie treats to shape mine never hold their shape I must be doing something wrong. Please any advise I would very much appreciate it . Jo

AI use:

1 bag marshmallows* 1/4 cup butter vanilla 5 cups cereal

depending on what i'm making i let my item set up overnight in a mold so the gelatin in the mm can re-set up and hold -- if you use the store bought rice krispie cookies you can mold those right out of the package --

then it just depends on how big you make them as far as how heavy & how to apply them to the cake -- you can use a microplane to smooth them out

* i use the 10 ounce bags but sometimes i go for the 16 ounce ones -- if i was selling I'd use the 10 ounce --

best to you

Ayou're welcome -- and when I mold something with it I mold while it's warm, right out of the pan with well buttered hands -- if I'm making a quantity of small items, I set my pan over another pan of hot water -- a Bain Marie --

-- another way is to stuff it into a pan and carve it out after it sets up --

my first thought would be to get out my corelle soup/cereal bowls which would be a perfect shape for an m&m person -- I'd mold them in there & let them set up overnight --

love to see a picture if all goes well
