Beside the things already listed to consider it depends a lot on what size the cake is :)

You've been a member here for a few months, so I'm sure you've seen fellow members talk about the search bar. That bar can help you find the info you need. Type in How to Price and numerous threads will appear. Good luck!

Another thing to think of besides your costs involved is are you able to sell product with alcohol either baked in or poured over. This not to get into a debate whether you are a legal business or not or under CFL but, under the  Florida CFL you can not sell anything with liquor in or on it. Something to research.

Do you have set recipes yet? If you do, then you can calculate your cost.

You might want to look into purchasing Cake Boss Software (not associated with the show). I use the software for pricing, invoicing and scheduling. The program makes it really easy to figure out exactly what each recipe costs you.

This is a helpful post. I am deciding on my recipes and plan to start selling in a few months. Thanks cai0311.

Thanks, I did not know that. Does this apply to liquor baked into something? For example: rum baked into chocolate chip cookies?

Craftybanana, as I had stated yes no baked in or poured over.  They were stupid in my opinion when they threw that part of the law in too.

Sorry to hijack thread OP, but I am morbidly curious. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_by_volume So anything under alcohol content of vanilla extract on this lest, you can use? Or do you have to use alcohol free extracts too?

Sorry but I misstated, instead of alcohol I should have stated liquor. I use both alcohol and liquor interchangeably.
