Yes, it's funny isn't it.  There was a recent thread about the same silliness that you might enjoy.

AI think it will be great for college kids and a quick after school snack, but I don't see it as a threat to bakers at all. I think cake mixes will stay popular, as will custom cakes. After all, you spray it in a pan and microwave it. Would have loved that in college!

I'm totally down with it.  It's no better/worse then other types of cake mix available - remember the all-in-one kits they used to have that had a little pan, a spoon (I think), all you had to do is mix in a small amount of water and zap in the micro?  It even came with a frosting packet and funfetti had extrA funfetti to sprinkle on top.  It tasted spongy and weird, but the target audience is the drunk/high college kid that has the munchies (which was pretty miuch me in yhe 90's).  This will sell really well, especially if they introduce flavors like bacon chocolate, moci vanilla, mountain dew or some other hipster combos besides chocolate and vanilla.

Will totally buy.

Totally remember that!  My mother in law asked recently if they still sell that anywhere - she loved it.  I think lots of people would love to make a single cupcake in the micro.  They will need to come up with the accompanying frosting in a can, but then again some chocolate readi whip would fill the bill.
