Can anyone tell me how to acheive this gold on the cake?
The fastest way is to use those little round flat candy confetti discs, glue them onto the cake, then paint them with gold luster dust. There's a highly metallic gold that's being sold now but it's marked as decorative use only, not for eating, so I'm not sure about using it directly on a cake like that. You could use regular gold luster dust that's been made into a thick paint and that will be good enough. I just did a display cake that had gold leaf sequins on it so you do get the metallic shine, but for that many I wouldn't recommend doing it that way. The candy confetti painted gold would be the fastest way.
AOne more question, tutorials I saw always mentioned fondant covered cakes, could it be done with buttercream?
