AI've been asked to make a cake for an upcoming party. Challenge is that I'm heading out of town the day before the party and would have to deliver the cake about 24 hours before it would be eaten. Has anyone ever done this before? I would like to accept the job because I think it will be great exposure but don't want to risk it if it will not taste great. Thoughts?

AI would recommend not having a filling that requires refrigeration because the person may not have room in their fridge for the cake. I would put the cake in a box so it isn't touched once dropped off.

I have done this before for parties at someone's home. I wouldn't do it if you are leaving the cake at a venue.

ADo this ALL the time. Never had problems, and we get great reviews too. If its covered with fondant or icing it wont dry in one day.

Or make a mud cake and cover it in ganache and fondant and it will keep fine.

ACazza mud cakes are my favourite cakes, I read loads from you and your fellow Australians about mud cake and ganache before I tried one and it's my new favourite cake now. :-) I made one for my sister but she wouldn't cut it so I didn't actually get to taste it til 8 days after it was made. It was still delicious, I couldn't believe how well it had kept.

Why would anyone not cut a cake for 8 days unless it was a fruitcake? Seems weird to me. No one has ever made me a cake but if they had I would cut into it right away!! I am the cake monster!!!!

AShe wouldn't cut while I was there on her birthday. She did cut it a day or two later but I didn't taste it til day 8! :-D She's strange, even fruitcake doesn't last 8 days in my house!
