Okay CC family, another hurricane is on its way. It is said it will hit just 300 miles from where I am. I am very worried. Tomorrow there is an evacuation order from Gov. Perry for all of the coast. My sister lives in McAllen and will probably come here but I am thinking if it is anything like Katrina, we are not safe here either. I am watching it very close so please pray for those of us here in TX that we will not be lost in this storm. It is scheduled to hit Galveston Saturday so I will keep everyone informed on how we are doing here as much as I can. Any of our CC family closer to the coast? You are always welcome to head this way. My town is already preparing for coast evacuees but I am thinking we will be evacuees as well. We will know by the end of the week.

HI everyone,
I happen to live in McAllen, texas and from what i gather, ppl are stocking up on supplies and what not. Altho, the general feeling that im picking up around the city, is "its not going to be that bad for us", i hope theyre right. Also, my DB (dear boyfriend) teaches in Houston and hes been told that tomorrow is the last day for classes until next week and that they should evacuate by thursday. I dont know if this is true or not. Can anyone confirm if this is accurate? I think that by tomorrow we should be told if we should stay put OR get the heck out of dodge.

I suppose Houston's due for another one. Hasn't been hit directly by anything since Alicia back in '83. Caused $2.4 billion (today's $) in damage, and it was only a weak cat. 3 when it hit. Funny how Katrina makes you realize how scary a hurricane really is, isn't it?

My mom's in Ft. Bend, so she will likely be coming for a visit, but we've got lots of room (and we're a little further inland than Carla in Bryan.) Anybody that needs some space is welcome here.

Famousamos, take care of yourself. We'll all be praying for you and everyone else in this storm's path.

On a lighter note, the next name in the rotation is Stan - I'd much rather get clobbered by Rita than Stan. Haha (and apologies to any Stans out there icon_smile.gif )

BlueLamp- Here's something I received from a list I'm on in Houston:

If you are in Zone A, B, or C....please heed the evacuation
orders that have been issued. Zone A 6:00 pm Wednesday, Zone B 2:00
am Thursday morning, Zone C 12:00 pm Thursday.

If you are in low lying areas in Houston, please go ahead and
evacuate. I saw the possible flooded areas on a map and it includes
most of east Houston including some of the inside of Loop 610.

Predictions are showing the Hurricane to hit near/west of Freeport,
TX.

Here is a link to the map of the evacuation zones.

ALimonkey-- Thank you so much for that link. DB lives off of 45 north and FM1960. it doesnt look like that area is on the map , but according to him, it does flood very quickly. We'll see.
THanks again!

I would just like to say my prayers go out to ya'll. I'm afraid this one will get close to the north northwest of La. where I am too. We are on the East side & that ain't good.

Too all of you that live anywhere near where Rita is supposed to hit OR if you live in low line areas LEAVE! I hope we all have learned from Katrina. You can't go by opinions of "It might not do any damage". The warnings are there for a reason... Don't be like La, Ms & Alabama were. Get the hell out of there or that's what you will be in pure hell.

Ya'll be safe & our prayers are with you all~ I'd offer my home but that's a little far for ya'll to travel. God's Blessings to you ALL!!!

I live in Lufkin (about 2 hours north of Houston), and people are already lined up at the gas stations. My DH went to Sam's to get some water earlier and said they were nearly out.

On a funny note, Klein high school (Houston area), is playing Lufkin here this week. Supposed to be on Friday night, but they moved it up to tomorrow. Heaven forbid we postpone our football games! icon_wink.gif

We are praying for everyone's safety.

My family was going to come today but decided not to because they're afraid of running out of gas and not being able to get more. Better to at home than stuck on the highway I suppose.

Carla-we have room if you decide you want to get out of town, too.
