I was wondering if I could use the Wilton football pan to make a cake like this? Or will that pan only make a flat cake?

Could I stack 2 of the cakes from that pan, and maybe round them out on the sides to give it a rounded appearance like this picture? Any advice please? Thanks!!!

The Wilton Football pan is a 3-d shape, it's only a one cake mix size.

Thanks MBalaska! So if I make one cake, will it look flatter than this? If I do 2 cakes in that pan, will it give me a rounded effect?

Those Wilton pans haven't been used by me for about a decade.  That photo looks like one cake mix baked in one pan which is half a football. Pretty much like the photo.  So two cakes would make a whole football, not that I've done it myself.  I think that I put the half football on a large sheet cake (It's been ages and I've forgotten)   I donated my Wilton Pans to the Sally Ann.

I made a football cake using two, 10 3/4 x 7 5/8 inch Wilton oval cake pans.  I do not know if these are available individually anymore, or only as a set.  Here is a link to the set:

I posted a complete series of photographs and an explanation on the Wilton forum:

After baking the two oval cakes, I cut them level with the top of the pan, then filled them with oreo buttercream filling, then carved a LITTLE TEENY TINY BIT AT A TIME!!!! until I got the finished shape I wanted.  Then I crumbcoated, then finished.

This was actually made for a man who works with the San Diego Chargers.  The cake was a surprise at a restaurant where he eats all the time.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

AThis does look like a full round football. Don't see why you couldn't make that flat pan twice like you said, put them together to make a full football. Flatten the bottom a little. Kind of like the pillow pan.
