Mine Craft Cake Heeeelp!!

Hello fellow bakers,
I have been asked to make a mine craft cake below to feed about 25 people. Any idea what the cake dimensions should be? I don't usually make square cakes so I don't even know what size pan to get. Also, is there any guide/chart I can use to calculate square serving sizes for taller cakes?

I have found www.bakingit.com to be an absolutely WONDERFUL free tool for designing cakes and figuring out cake dimensions and servings. When I did my Minecraft cake I baked three 6" squares, each 1 1/2 inches tall. Then after filling and icing the square should be the same height and width on all sides. Mine served 18. If you do the same with 7" cakes and make each layer 2 inches tall, you should wind up with a 7" cube. You'd get 24 servings with that. If you do four 8" square cakes 1 1/2 inches tall and stack them you'll get 30 servings.

I think most people here will tell you that the standard for a 4 inch tall cake is 1x2. And others will tell you that's too small. But yes, your numbers are right - you'll get 12 cubic inches of cake either way.
But in my experience, people don't eat anywhere near that amount. I always cut smaller than that, and people are always asking for just a small piece. 6 inches is a really tall slice of cake for most people. I only have my own anecdotal evidence to go on, but I've cut heaps of my own cakes, and I always always have lots left over if I go by the 1x2 slices on a 4 inch tall cake.
Yeah, I don't have much experience cutting my own cakes, lol. I get my fill of cake by eating the scraps and I'm the only one in my house (for now) that likes cake. So I just go what I was told is the industry standard. :) Guess I'll have to make myself my own birthday cake in a couple weeks just to practice slicing one, lol.
