AI've had a request to make a 3 tier cake with one side marvel and the other frozen. These are the pics she has sent me. I have no idea how I would price this or how long it would take me. I think it's a big job but wanted some advice. I've also not seen a cake with different decor on each side.
What do u all think? [IMG][/IMG]
AI obviously didn't make these cakes, these are the pics she sent me, I'm guessing she go them from google.
I don't know how you would be able to keep the Hulk hand bursting through the top from showing on the Frozen side. Sounds like they may be trying to incorporate a boy's & a girl's cake into the same giant cake. Sounds like a lot of work just to figure out the design much less executing it. If it were me, I would suggest to scale down the # of tiers & just make each kid their own individual cake in a single or 2 tier cake that would still give them the serving count they need for their party. Then at least you don't have 2 little kids trying to blow out candles at the same time on the same cake.
is the fist gonna hide behind the number '4' -- because the fist needs to be pretty big to be convincing-- and of course there's the copyright issue -- i also think she would need a revolving turntable to do it justice or place it in a 360 degree viewing area--
so scoot the superman and batman logos over a bit and maybe the fist could be coming up out of the side of batman and superman--
a big green fist and the frozen doll i'd charge $50 - $75 each so for everything if i did this cake for my best friend and she insisted on paying me i'd go about $200 - $250 over my base price--those logos are not hard wouldn't take much time at all --it's four different colors of iced cake and some fondant decor --
for the join i'd just let the white frozen fondant scallop edge flow in and out over some of the cape crusader material-- make it look draped a little--they have the black cape for batman and the red cape for superman-- and some webbing-- maybe a little green for the hulk -- with the white scallops all trailing down to the cover the join --
but if i had a business i would not do this cake
or the fist could hide behind a bunch of snowflakes-- in fact you could attach them to the back of the fist
I would not do this cake unless the customer could supply written permission from the trademark holders of the Hulk, Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and Frozen for you to make the cake for anyone but your family.
AShe's actually a friend and I think id scrap the hulk hand. I'm quite new to this so it takes me a lot longer to so the figures etc. I was going to charge around £100 for it. I think it may be a bit tricky considering I'm new to it so will suggest having 2 separate cakes I think. X
if i did the conversion correct my price in pounds is something like 300 pounds-- for a 10x8x6-- $510 in u.s.
you're gonna hate yourself if you're new and doing two cakes this complex for approximately $85 each? maybe if you buy the figurines you'd save time but lose money--
i'd suggest one 2-tier cake with much smaller logos all over the bottom tier do a flat fist like the logos and the frozen on top -- you could get an edible print out of the figurines--
good luck!
