The woman has no heart...how can she do this to us? If she's  at that wedding eating cold steak pie and mash instead of being paid for the cake....I don't think I can be responsible for my thoughts.

I missed the whole Corrie and Emmerdale omnibus over this debacle not to mention the strain its put on a whole range of middle aged organs best left undiscussed.

Razz, one thing I noticed in one of your last posts, you stated she had approved the design and you even made a dummy cake for her.  WHY??? This took more of your time as well as money as a loss of $$$.  If they like the design, then that's enough, make the cake. ONLY after you have gotten your money 1 month in advance of the actual date of the event.  Please, please tell us you were paid and were able to deliver the cake.

I have a very funny feeling about this.If ever a girl needed a sprig of lucky white heather its poor Razz, brides keeling over before they pay, brides taking the proverbial....and not paying and some of her other posts reveal similar rotten luck. Somebody up there is fond of practical jokes.

Criminy...I'm on the edge of my seat here...it's like reading a really good novel and getting to the end and discovering somebody ripped the last two pages out.

I hope she posts soon.

Ok guys here goes sorry to keep you all in suspenders(suspense) but I am ready to update you all on the wedding cake debacle- and by the way cake baby it is a combination of all 3 possibilities. Several strong drinks were  consumed, I had to lie down in a darkened room for several hours and I mulled over buying a baseball bat with which to commit hare kare but thought better of it and  proceeded to mentally beat myself up for several hours instead  yesterday afternoon hence my failure to update you all and tell you how things finally panned out.

Big breath here goes, oh and by the way I stopped watching Eastenders years ago but all your comments had me in total stitches crying with laughter which was great as I was v close on many occasions yesterday to crying tears of a totally different nature. I don't think Eastenders was half as exciting when I used to watch it if it was I wouldn't have grumbled about the TV licence fee lol!

I woke up feeling v tired and anxious Saturday morning having been awake most of the night listening out for the sound of someone approaching my front door and the gently thud of the money stuffed envelope as it hit the matt but no sounds greeted my expectant ears.I decided that I had to contact the bride again. I sent her a text apologising forr having to contact her stating i needed the money to drop off the cake and within minutes sh'd called me back. She gave no reason why the drop off had not occurred and asked me if I would only deliver the cakes if I got the money. I confirmed this and then she said that someone would be round within the hour to drop the money off. She asked me if I was going to be at the wedding and I firmly and categorically said I would not be .Afterall only I had been invited and not my husband or daughter and was only invited the day before, like i say i had a feeling i was invited for 2 reasons, one so i could not complain about non payment and 2 so i could be paid at the wedding. What bride carries around wads of cash on their wedding day to pay peole off?.Several minutes later the best man called and said he was on his way to Penge in South London (I live in East Lonodn) to pick up his family and he would then be over to me. The stunned silence that met his proposal must have given him an indication that this was not on I had to get to the venue set up the cake, and I had serious worries about what state the venue would be in and if anyone would be ready for me- how right was I!? The best man arrived some time later with the balance. Hurrah! My husband and I arrive at the venue and there is no one there apart form a rather puzzled looking cleaner! We'd been told that the hall was being set up from 9am and we could get there at this time the reception was due to start @ 2pm. My husband suggested we get there for around 10am just in case people were late. As it was we arrived @ 10 :30 to an empty hall (minus 2 mahoosive speakers), no table no tablecloth nadda! A further less composed and more frantic call to the bride ensued. Where is everybody? what am i supposed to do? I am not a wedding venue decorator, I am not in charge of the floor plan help! The bride told me where to locate the tables where to place them etc... My blood pressure is steadily rising. I have only an hour or so to set everything up before my husband and i have to pick up our daughter who was kindly being looked after by a friend.What do I do.Feeling very torn and v p****d off I set about lugging heavy tables around and placing tem where the bride has told me even though the position is far from ideal. Whist doing this various people come into the hall asking me where to put stuff. How the hell do I know I am just the cake lady. I felt like getting this branded on my forehead as so many people arrive ask me this questions and then leave promptly, No idea who they are. The caterer arrives and has a moan that nothing is set up and asks me what to do, How do I know? Mysteriously she begins coking food and then disappears again. I was planning to leave the cake in her charge when I finish but she is nowhere to be seen.. I call the bride back and say there is no table cloth. I am told someone is on their way with the floor plan and will dressing the hall and has the tablecloth. 9by the way this is after the bride asked me the night before if I had a tablecloth she could use- I am not a linen service). I can't wait wait around what do I do. I set the cake up on a table and use a crappy while paper table cloth as that is all I can find and get ready to leave. It is is nearly 2 hours later! As I am leaving a v dopey and harassed girl arrives and looks at me horrified when I begin my tirade. Not v professional  I know but  I am at breaking point now and besides she should have been here hours aho. The cake is in a s****y position behind a pillar that cannot be seen the table cloth looks dire, the background is white so you cannot see the cake properly but I have to go and get my child as well as beginning  another cake that has to be ready for next week! I  literally run out of the building heart racing wildly ready to leap into the car and drive away from the whole farce. I stop dead in my tracks , How can I leave my creation the incapable hands of the so called wedding coordinator who was 3 hours late and appears not to have a clue. Will someone try to move the cake and then ruin it, will they manhandle the ivy and the stand, will they not align the cakes on the stand properly? I go back and move the table to a better position and dress the table with a nice white linen table cloth. I did not do this for the bride but for me as I could not bear anything happening to the cake like the other wedding disaster when they moved the table with the cake still o it and at the end of the day that is my name and product that people will see..

When I left the venue a little before 1 o'clock nothing at all was ready  I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall. I have never witnessed such a debacle.

I am so glad it s all over I have learnt many valuable lessons. I did do a cake dummy for the bride and gave her photos which she approved so she really did not need to see the cake before the wedding I should have taken money at least 1 month before wedding. I should have got details of venue at least 1 month before hand.I should have just left the cake at the venue as nothing was ready I met my part of the bargain to make and  deliver the cake.

I need to be more confident in y work and not feel as though people are doing me a favour because they have ordered something form em I think. I sall never do a wedding cake delivery again after today. The bride had told me beforehand and give assurance that the table would be ready and so on.

The funny thing is I posted on this site a week ago regarding the same cake when i realised after dressing the stand that the fruit cakes were too heavy for the top 2 tiers on the stand and had to set about quickly covering 2 cake dummies instead which I obviously did not charge for as I had not thought at all about the weight of a 8 inch and 10 inch fruit cake. I am soooo glad this cake is now done and dusted problems from beginning to end. 

I really do not know what i would have done without you all, you have given me support and advice and a good talking to which I admit I do need sometimes. 

Man. That's ridiculous! I wonder what time the ceremony was that the bride could still be talking to you just before midday if the reception was supposed to start at 2? Sounds like you weren't the only one who suffered through the disorganisation here. I would have loved to be the fly on the wall beside you at 2pm!

Good on you for sticking to your guns and getting your money! Rest assured that all weddings aren't like that.

AOh razz, what a story, that is cake is lovely and should no way be involved in such a pathetic sounding wedding.

Its over like you said and no doubt you will learn from this, I did feel so sorry for you.

AAlthough I haven't commented I've been glued to this thread, eagerly awaiting the outcome. Lovely cake Razz and so glad you got the money in the end. :-)
