How do I make the top of a graduation cap to place on top of a cake? I would like the base to be cake but how do I make the top/square on the top?

AI just made one. I used gumpaste and actually used wooden dowels to put on both sides of the gumpaste to roll out, where the rolling pin sat on top the dowels and it would be even. And I used a card stock paper cut to the size I needed and then used it as a template to cut out with an exacto knife. It will need to dry for at least 3-4 days though.

if you are using fondant, cut out the size square you would need to be the top, let your piece dry a day or two then place on top.

roll out straight gumpaste the size square you need and let it air dry for 1-3 days.
