How Do You Stick Fondant To Fondant?

AI was wondering if I have a fondant covered cake how do I stick other fondant pieces to it. Do I just brush on water? I've seen cakes where you can see like a water spot where the water wax brushed on. Was wondering if there's another way?
You can also use vanilla or vodka. You shouldn't get water spots if you're careful and only use a dab, you don't want to soak it just a dab to glue it on.
AGet a watercolor brush from the hobby store. It has a tube attached that you put water in, and when you squeeze it, the brush gets wet. Dab it off on a paper towel to get the excess water off first.
Most of the time I just use a very thin layer of shortening on the back of the piece I'm sticking on the cake and it will stay just fine. If you get extra shortening anywhere else on the cake, it buffs away easily. I use either a q-tip or paper towel wrapped around my finger.
There are many things you can use, water, icing, Crisco or you can make your own gel. Use sparingly.
