Can I Use Candymelts On Gauge Wire?

Hi All,
I want to make a topper for a birthday cake and have seen the shooting stars and names in fondant attached to gauge wire (in coffee stirrers) stuck in the cake. I want to know if candymelts are too heavy for the wire and if not, how I would go about affixing the wire to the candymelt so it doesnt fall off.
The letters/stars will be no more than 2 inches tall.
Thanks!
Are you talking about making the letters out of candy melts? How thick? Thicker they are, heavier they are.
Depending on the gauge of the wire it may or may not be too heavy.
Have you considered using wooden skewers instead?
ASorry forgot about my post. Im going to use fondant as i want the "shooting star" look. Thanks for the advice.
AIf you'd prefer chocolate you can easily make modeling chocolate out of your candy melts. If you already have fondant it would probably be easier for these type of decorations.
