Hi Everyone!
I'm being ambitious and I'm going to attempt to make this cake for my son's 1st birthday.
Now I'm not sure as to how many inches these tiers are or their height since there's no scale. I'm ball parking them at 9in in diameter for the bottom with a 8in height. Then 6in in diameter for the top also with an 8in top. If anyone feels that's not the case please feel free to let me know.
I'm also trying to sort out how much fondant I'll need. Is 5lbs too little to cover the cakes?
AHi there :) just by looking at the photo i would think that the bottom tier is 8" in diameter and 4-5" high and the top is 6" in diameter and 4-5" high. 4-5" is usually the norm/standard height. Cakes 8" in height are usually double barrels (maybe 4 layers?) and from what i read are more difficult to cover with fondant. 5 lbs of fondant for the above estimated cake sizes will not be enough as you will need extra for the decorations (stripes, flowers, leaves, 3D figures).
This cake might also be 10" bottom tier and 8" top tier. Both 4-5" high. If this is the size you want to get more serving sizes then you would definitely need more than 5lbs of fondant. Goodluck :)
