Hi All,

My bf's stepmum is 50 soon and I am tasked with making her a westie cake.

I tried to do a sculpted cake which I knew would be ambitious so did a trial run. It didn't really work how i wanted it to so instead of putting myself under pressure I have decided to do a square cake with a topper (probably as a present style thing).

Can I ask how you would do this topper, as it has alot of detail:

I assume it would be pure fondant then use a garlic press/potato ricer to make the fondant on top look this way? Or is the base made with rkt then covered in fondant?

Or I was thinking of doing a sofa with the dogs on it like this (without the person), would the sofa be rkt?:

Thank you for any advice, I will be crediting anyone's ideas I take things from. Really appreciated!
