There has to be an easier way than baking 6 cakes to get one....Up until now when a customer has ordered a 6 or 8 inch ombre cake I am baking 4-6 separate colored cakes and then cutting them on half and stacking them to create a ombre cake but that is so time consuming not to mention a waste of left over cake...I am baking 6 cakes to assemble one...
Is there an easier way??? Would you share

AThe most I ever do for guests is torte a little thinner, then ombre the SMBC in between the thin layers.
I dont have the time or patience to dye the cakes themselves. I would have to charge a fairly exorbitant amount for it to be worth my time.
And yes, dying the cakes is pretty much the only foolproof way of doing the effect you are talking about.
AI have no waste because I make the same amount of mix as I would for 1 cake and split it 6 ways. It means its easy too. If I don't have enough tins for it to be easy I will persuade them onto a size that I do have.
