AHi everyone im new to cc so i havnt got a clue how i do things on here, anyways i have a quick question... I made a cake with 2 1/2 all purpose flour 3/4 cup of vegetable oil 1 cup of milk 4 eggs 2 cups of granulated sugar 1 teaspoon of vanilla 1/2 teaspoon of salt 2 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder

I love the idea of using oil instead of butter and it tastes fab, im making a fire engine cake, if i use this mix and crumb coat etc using smbc let it firm overnight in the fridge, is this cake ok to cover in fondant? Im scared incase my cake collapses Kind regards Katy

AUse more than a crumb coat when covering with fondant, people really appreciate a good layer of icing underneath fondant. I think this is one of the reasons people have such an aversion to fondant because they have had a fondant covered cake with practically zero buttercream underneath. Anything to get the public over the fear of fondant!

As for the rest of your question...I have no earthly idea, sorry. What are the reviews for this recipe? Get it online somewhere?

AYeah i always crumb coat and then put a thick layer of buttercream on aswel, let it firm in fridge and then fondant.... I needed to make a pink black and white zebra inside the cake so i watched a youtube chanel and just followed her recipe..... The lady just leaves it as a buttercream with no fondant on, but im just wanting to know if this cake will hold up under fondant x
