Good day friends.

I have a bride enquiring on this wedding cake. I would like to know if any of you know how to do and attach the feathery stuff that is at the bottom tier.

AWow! That cake Is Crazy beautiful! Not a clue how to do that but it almost looks like spun sugar or something. Or very thin strip of wafer paper?

I'm thinking sugar. There is a member here who just won a Gold Medal for her sugar flower arrangment, maybe look up her thread and ask her. Her work was unbelievable!!!

I, personally, don't know if I love this cake!!! It is kind of too much. What a chore to make this!!!!

It looks like a skirt made from material scraps and feathers for the cake base....I don't think its edible. If it is....wow...too much.

AIt does look like sugar, you could possibly get the same effect with say a white chocolate! I remember watching how to make chocolate bowls, maybe you could do something similar only sort of stringing the chocolate all different directions and then once dry place on cake...just a thought, as I have no idea how to spin sugar

Those cakes were made by The Cake Guys. The first one is the first picture on this page:

The other one is on page 2.

You could get in touch with them and ask how they do that.

AI don't think it's edible. If you look at The Cake Guy's fb, that cake was from their bridal fair. It's like feathery stuff you can get from a craft store.

AWell...but the other stuff looks edible. Why stick tiny feathers in there, if they are indeed real feathers. Hmmm.

Thank u all for the replies. I like the cotton candy idea. If bride confirms, I will do an experiment. I was thinking of using rice paper cut very thinly then stick it as I go with the decorations. Can that be done with cotton candy? Cutting rice paper seems more time consuming than pulling cotton candy. It is a lot of work I agree.I added $100 PITA fee when I quote the cake so we will be even. Also it will be fruit cake so decorating can be done even weeks before the wedding.
