I have frozen two 8" rounds.  My question is - should I fill and ice them while frozen (I'm using all buttercream), or let them thaw first?  I've seen differing opinions.  I'm a novice at decorating cakes, so the easiest is best for me!

AI wait until my cakes are completely thawed before frosting them. I have frosted them partially thawed before, but the moisture from the rest of the thawing caused seeping from under the icing at the bottom edge of the cake.

I would thaw them completely before frosting, but level and tort them- if you are adding a filling - while they are still slightly frozen. Makes it easier to handle them in my opinion.

Hope this helps,

AYou can fill them frozen. Frost them after thawing.
