This is the cake I was hoping to make my son this weekend. Do you have any tips or tricks on how I would go about creating the hay/straw look on the top tier. It looks tedious if anything...I can figure out if it's piped in buttercream, or fondant with an extruder?? Has anyone done this before?
Also, another question... the cake is just for our family and I would don't need three tiers of cake but I like the look of it. I could make the bottom tier out of styrofoam, right? I have nooooooooooo clue what to do with that... just buy it and decorate it like it's real cake? Is there anything I should know about making
a fake tier? Sorry this is all new territory to me.
