Looks like Gold *metallic* Edible Glitter to me.... (not really metal).

I've gotten this same /look effect with several Edible Glitters from Chef Rubber.

Edible - based on agar agar & colorant.

AJust wondering what is is like to eat the gold. Although the cake looks fantastic not sure I would like to eat something that has that much metallic colouring.

Very rarely does ONE person sit down and eat the ENTIRE cake - and it isn't metallic colouring

Edible glitter is food coloring and agar-agar.... so there's no taste and it dissolves.

Unlike the real plastic polymer glitters that get stuck in the teeth like seeds and do whatever happy dance they do with stomach acids...

I guess it is just the psychology of seeing the colour - it feels alien to actually think about putting it in your mouth. I expect that the texture is quite interesting with the agar-agar.

Wow, these are amazing, I didn't know Chef Rubber made these. Definitely need to get some and play with them. Thanks Lisa!

I have some of the Chef Rubber edible glitter.  It reminds me of the Wilton glitter.  Not very metallic.

My container says made in the USA.  It's made of Gum Arabic and coloring.

Chef Rubber has TWO golds.

One is Not metallic, one IS.

You HAVE to be certain to order the Metallic Gold.

I have both and the Metallic is what I would use to get this effect.

Love the stuff.... I even use it my body paintings.

Here's an image that used isomalt, rock salt and silver metallic edible glitter in with regular and black light cosmetics:

Her Crown is red isomalt with a light behind it so it *glows* from within.

Here's a steampunk doll from the side - you can see the metallic gold edible glitter on her neck. Also used gelatin pieces for the paisely head cover and trim.

The regular colors are very nice, too. Here is Blue edible glitter over a blue bodypaint:

I'm sure that cake is by The Caketress.

It isn't edible glitter...  they are individual 'sequins' made of gumpaste and sprayed or painted with edible gold lustre dissolved in confectioner's glaze.

I saw her recipe and it's definitely more metallic looking and a pretty color.   I ordered the Chef Rubber ones for Christmas cookies - which worked out great for kids.

Here is the FDA approved luster dust I just got from GSA.     WARNING - SLOPPY TEST :)  I just wanted you to have some idea of the color - Aztec Gold.

The cake picture made with hand made sequins... it's gorgeous.

I'm suggesting the edible glitter as a time & cost saving alternative.
