SOLICITING FEEDBACK : NEW MEMBER EXPERIENCE - Page 23

Being a simple baker among the TITANS of decorating here, this is an enjoyable website most of the time.

........ It's Like Sesame Street for decorators, " how many pieces of cake in this 8" pan -- Count with the Count - one little piece of cake, two little pieces of cake".

.........or Star Wars, "Help me OB1Kenobe you're the only one who can save my curdled Swiss Meringue ButterCream".

Sometimes it's just plain funny.  We wouldn't want to lose the smiles.:)  and some of the things that people report about real life stupidity are downright hilarious.

You guys are really coming up with some interesting ideas.

I found this forum originally through a Google search. I have learned a lot on here. I agree that some kind of welcome e-mail with general information would be very helpful to a new user especially all the little abbreviations. As it had taken me several days to read through this I hope not to be repeating anything. I think a forum titled Newcomer's 101 for basic questions would help. That way anyone who may get a little annoyed at those types of question can just ignore anything that is posted there. Trust me there are some that come off as annoying. I think the moderator said something about flagging your own post if you think it may cause a problem to give them a heads up. I think that would be a good idea I would hate for someone not to mention something like the pins because they didn't want to start something.

I find most of my questions are answered if I read through some of the old threads. (I was the kid in the back of the class who was afraid to ask). Since I have find most of my answers on these old threads, I think a like button or even I found this helpful button would be nice. If i find something useful someone else may too and it would be nice to thanks someone without having to reply "hey thanks that is something I am going to try this." Which I don't do and may be I should let them know.

I have to say I enjoy this site a lot and I have seen some people get offended it to easy. I am glad that cc is trying to make the experience here better and not just for the newcomers but everyone. It is a little sad that it became necessary to.

And thanks to all the people who take time to answer the questions so I can find my answers. I have really learner so much on here.

Thanks,

That idea sounds perfect to me, especially if there are members who don't want to or can't be bothered to help new members.

I don't think that's the case, I'm new and get good advice and feedback from pro's and I've been homebaking for 30yrs.

Reading between the lines on this extensive thread there is understandable resentment about the precious newbie who fails to use the easy search engine, wants a cake critiqued (as long as its nice feedback) and gets upset when long standing members don't think they are quite as precious as they think themselves.

I hasten to add this is no disrespect to you, merely the one posters who scream "HELP...ANYONE ASAP"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this is an old thread, but just in case anyone is still looking for feedback.....

I feel like the search functionality can be improved.  Often I try to search something and can't pinpoint it.

Another way to search cake central is to use Google. Type in your subject matter or key words, and add CakeCentral with the plus sign in between words. Such as decorating+wedding+icing+cakecentral.

Interesting tip!  I will try that.

But that's a shame that you have to leave the site to have a successful search.

No one has to leave the site. I always do a CakeCentral search and usually find what I need. Google is additional support. I'm glad to help.

If you're extra nerdy, you can refine your search to only show results from this site. You can find the options in advanced search in Google.

Just answering emails would be a great start!

It's been 4 weeks now and loads of emails later.

I can't get hold of the 2 issues I have purchased. I've bought pdfs from you before and had no problem but this time the links are invalid.

I have asked several times for help. No-one answers my emails.

Accordingly to your forum and this site, this complain has come up before and people have been ignored. I'll continue to email and post on your social media sites too until someone from Cake Central replies directly because you have my money but haven't delivered the goods.

Eventually, I will complain to other authorities as it's against trading laws.

Please will someone from Cake Central have the decency to reply to my request.
