AI'm not a pro but I should say working with fondant is tricky.i suggest to bake one tier before and practice with it to get used to fondant.use ganache underneath and smooth it really well.don't roll your fondant too thick and use a little bit shortening if it cracks you should work fast.

Start searching the forum for "fondant", go to the library there are usually lots of cake decorating books from the Big Star Professionals, Search You-Tube - there are so many "How to Use Fondant" videos that you could live there.

But more importantly, do you know if anyone will like fondant, or would they like to eat lots of buttercream.

I'd like to make dressier decorated fondant cakes, but everyone I know hates them and literally screw up their little faces and pout if I even suggest it.  They want clouds of buttercream.

You may want to learn to make your own homemade fondant and save money and improve the taste.

Here is a youtube video showing two different methods.

You will need a smoother to give your cakes a nice finish and practice, practice, practice.  I am not being sarcastic, I just know fondant is not something you may get on your first try.

Good luck with your cake :)
