I need to make fuschia fondant and haven't purchased my fondant for this project yet.  Any suggestions to get the proper shade?

Do I start with white and add red or pink fondant, then color or white fondant and add my Americolor fuchsia, (which I have plus others). OR start with pink fondant and take it from there?

Thank you very much.

AIf you go with the "add color to white fondant" method, you need to knead a pink or fuchsia everyday, and leave it to rest overnight in a dark place; it darkens when resting. Don't add a lot all at once, it will just make you waste product. Do this until you get the desired shade, it could take up to 3 days. However be aware of the taste of it, if you add too much, it could get a bitter taste. Maybe if you start from an already pink fondant (that doesn't taste bad) doing the same method you could reach the shade faster.

There's a post about this on the Gateaux Inc. blog.  They figured it out and posted on how to do it.  They first had to get a magenta and then mixed with purple and ultimately blue as they were doing a magenta to blue ombre.  Fuchsia is somewhere in the middle. Here's the link:

The answer is that they used pink and purple candy colors mixed to achieve bright and deep shades, without that orangey cast that you sometimes get from hot pink.  I'd give it a try.  Their results are amazing.
