Helloo,
I want to make an aboriginal art cake for family friends moving to Australia. Can anybody shed a light onto how this cake (the top tier) might have been decorated?
the little dots too, but mainly the bigger ones. I'm trying to think of the least time consuming way to do it...
or something like this
ALittle dots (pearls) of royal icing..... LOTS of them!!
2 tips:
1- it helps to draw your design on baking paper first then lay it over the cake and make little pin holes through the paper all over the fondant as a guide that way you can just jump into the piping without having to concentrate on the design too much as you go.
2- keep a paint brush and a little clean water beside you so you can neaten the dots/pearls as you go- if they get a crusty top they're harder to neaten- better yet have an assistant do it for you as you pipe...
...sorry got lost daydreaming about having an assistant.....
Have fun!

I would personally , hand paint them with the end of a small paintbrush , just mix powder colour with alcohol and go for it.
You could use a stencil brush (blunt flat bristles or foam) and then you wouldn't have to "form" the circles, they would just be the diameter of the brush.
