it's amazing--so well done--so ethereal--you look at it and you can't see the cake just the chandelier and vise versa--exquisitely beautiful confusion

I like the supports. It is just a smooth iced cake with inedible jewelry tacked to it, right? Over the top, but the supports are the most impressive part.

The finger pokes are pretty funny/maddening, depending on your point of view. I mean, people POKED the cake, on the other hand, who could blame them for wondering if it was real?

According to the article in Huffington post- the bling was real rhinestones.

Very impressive.  I just stare at pics like this to understand them.

How 'flush' & level the frosting and cake are to each tier just boggles my mind - it's so clean :eek:8O

Other than wanting an insight into the support structure I'm dying to figure out the 3rd tier from the bottom.  The large rhinestone border must have weighed close to 5 pounds and I wonder how they got that to stick without falling or causing imperfections in the frosting... I am dumbfounded :duh:

The New York cake decorators on the TV show Amazing Cakes did something like this with a beehive.

I'd have to actually cut and taste the cake to believe this is real.

Anybody see when "Buddy" did the chandelier wedding cake and dropped it on the dang floor when he was trying to lower it? I couldn't believe it! What a stupid thing to do, you KNOW a 4-5 tier cake is going to weigh at least 50 pounds, anticipate at least 70 and brace yourself.

I saw about 5 minutes of that episode, he botched that cake every which way. Just the way he was handling the layers made me mad, lol, I shut it off and googled it later.

Who was the caker for Cuoco's wedding cake? To say that I'm impressed is an understatement!! This is jaw-dropping-worthy!

I am shocked and appalled. Realistically following the tedium involved in baking, decorating, and delivering cakes to customers without any issues would make for far better TV.

Thanks 810whitechoc! I checked out their site, and someone described how it was held on together:

If you were to turn this picture upside down;
1. You will see a rod sticking out of the "bottom"
2. Each layer has a plate which the cake rests on. Thus not putting any pressure on the lower layer
3. It is built as is seen here, layer by layer.
4. Bling is added with each layer to hide any attachments of bling.
5. The chandelier is attached to the most upper layer (bottom) plate.

The cake was gorgeous!  My friend Chrissie had a tutorial a couple years ago in ACD and also demoed the structure at ICES.  You can get the structure kit online at her store - Icing Inspirations

It seems that the old saying:  If the mind can conceive it, you can achieve it.

Really holds true on CC.  Any topic, any photo, any concept, and you fine people can make it happen in cake, cookie, or fondant.  Bravo.

Did you see the Golden Globes Red Carpet with Ryan Seacrest?  Right after he said hello and congrats to Kaley he mentioned the cake, she mentioned the caker and showed a picture!  WOWOW!  You cannot buy that kind of PR!  Good for them!

AYa know I was just wondering where the baker got the inspiration for this kind of cake, was she just walking by a chandelier and thought to herself " damn, I'm gonna stick a cake on the ceiling!! "

I think the finger marks are where they had to hold the cake to cut it. I read in an article they had to hold the cake so it wouldn't swing while they cut it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong :)
