OK, So I've actually looked at EVERY single post on shoe templates, even good, and did Pintrest even instagramed and asked questions left and right, North and South and I can't seem to get any REAL answers. So I turn to my trust Cake Central family.

I'm looking to make a shoe like this one,... go take a look... but I and I need a template of a closed toe platform.

There is 2 layers, The zebra print and the hot pink. I'm like 80% sure how I'd get this done or "mashed" together I should say. I guess that questions comes later(?) But for now I'd really just like the template to get things started.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but those spikes should be done with fondant/gum paste, one by one?  I'm not looking forward to that step but I'd prefer that over pipping. I don't have the steadiest hand in the land.

AAbsolutely done with gum paste or fondant. I don't know what level of realism you're going for, but I can't imagine expecting any piping looking that good. Plus, you'll need to apply gold highlighter for that super metallic shine. That needs to go on something firm and dry.

AHow big is the shoe, life size, smaller? There are kits out there, with cutters, formers, molds, etc.

If you are doing a life size shoe then you may find it helpful to buy a cheap pair of a similar shape from a charity shop and take it apart. I found it really helpful to do this because you can see how the shoe is made and it helps with the little details like the material piping on the top edge of the shoe and the stitch detailing

make the template by 

you can use silicone plastique  to make a mold of the heel. you can use the sole plate as your former. the other great thing about using a real shoe is that the left and right shoes are mirrored in shape - this is one of the things they look out for in competitions

My suggestion would be to do the contrasting colours in two layers showing the stitch line. i would allow it to set up with its colour and high shine then overlay the animal print.

the heel will need a stick in it for added strength and again don't be too anxious about putting it together give it a good time to dry.  i use RI to assemble shoes with the exception of overlays where tylo glue gives a close bond without showing through.

i would use pastillage paste for the heels it is quick drying compared to other pastes and much stronger. it can be sanded when dry and any imperfections can be filled with RI

for the rest of the shoe my choice would be flower paste.

This may help. There is a kit available in the uk. It was at the last show but can't find it on the net. So may not be available on general sale yet. I did think it was expensive at £75. I don't spend that much on a new pair of shoes lol
